Housing provider Trident Group names interim head

Finance director David Harris will become temporary chief executive at Birmingham based housing association Trident Group.

Harris will replace Nigel Wilson, assuming the chief executive role until April, having spent seven years as the organisation’s finance head. He previously held roles at Orbit Homes and Affinity Sutton.

Wilson has lead the Birmingham-based organisation for the past three years, taking up the role in September 2023. He announced earlier this year that he would be retiring after 41 years in the housing sector.

Recruitment for a permanent chief executive is expected to begin in the new year.

“On behalf of the organisation, we want to pass on our gratitude to Nigel for his leadership and the way he has transformed Trident Group; he leaves us in a strong position,” said Harris.

“This gives us a really good platform to build on in the immediate and long-term future so we can further improve services for our tenants.”

Erdington-headquartered Trident Group manages around 3,500 properties in the West Midlands and employs more than 750 staff.

The group has also revealed a new chair of the board with Andrew Fry replacing Brian Carr, who retires in December.

Chief Executive, Nigel Wilson, added: “David will bring consistency and continuity to the role, having worked alongside me for three years to bring the association back to the top governance rating and provide greater stability.

“This will allow Andrew as our new chair to complete his six month onboarding period to get to know organisation, the executive team and fellow Board members before deciding their strategy to appoint the next permanent chief executive.

“I would like to thank Brian for his outstanding support and service as chair.”
